My name is Marcia Snyder. I’m 38 years old and the newest coach at Crossfit TC Unplugged.

I was born and raised in Lehighton and a 1994 graduate of Lehighton High School. As a child, I was always into sports. Growing up with a brother and many male cousins, I played anything from football and baseball to kickball. I was active in gymnastics for many years along with being a cheerleader. In high school I joined track and ran in relays and 100 meter dashes.  I live in Kunkletown with my fiancé Mitch Schaffer, and our 3 dogs and 2 cats.

We are both very active people who enjoy walking, hiking, biking, and snow shoeing. In the summer of 2012, we were invited to try out Crossfit during a “free week.”  I have always hated going to gyms and working out in front of other people and was very hesitant to try it.  So, we went to a class and I was hooked immediately.  I found out that Crossfit is not like working out in a gym. It is family getting together and working out, pushing each other to the end and helping others meet their goals. It was the best 20 min workout ever!

The best feeling is walking into your Crossfit box and not having any idea what workout you will be doing.  My competitive side loves the “White board.”  At the end of each workout we write down our score. I’m always trying to out do Mitch, which I might add, I often do! 🙂

I have always exercised regularly and try to eat healthy foods. I have never had a weight issues but, like many girls, have struggled with “body issues.”  The self confidence I developed at Crossfit has helped me forget about that.

Probably what I like most about Crossfit are the people.  Everyone is very friendly and supportive.  It really is like one big family. While everyone is very motivated and competitive, it is always about bettering yourself and helping others to improve.

Before Crossfit, I had not participated in any organized events like 5K races. Since joining, I have done a few 5Ks, some charity events and had a blast competing in the Spartan Race.  All of this was because of the friends I have made and motivation I have gotten at Crossfit.  When Chrissy asked if I would  be interested in coaching, I was really excited. A year ago, I would not have thought that I would have what it takes to help others reach their fitness goals. As of October 2013, I am the newest coach at Crossfit TC Unplugged!  I am committed to doing my best to make sure that others can get out of Crossfit what I have gotten out of it during the past year.

My favorite workout would include anything with lots of squats, lunges, box jumps, handstand push-ups, and thrusters.

My least favorite things are Turkish get ups, regular push-ups, and pull ups.

My take on Crossfit is that it is hard and it is challenging. You will sweat, breath hard, and occasionally curse under your breath, but when you are finished, you will be so proud of what you have accomplished and that alone will be the best feeling ever.
